Broke, Still

I came on this page wanting to write another visually engaging post, but I had to get creative to publish it.
See - I have a negative amount of storage and I didn't even know that was possible until I realized I had it.
When I created this website over ten years ago the pictures and videos I could upload were limitless.
As of 2024 the limits weren't only added but monetized, so now I sit on a website with over 3.2GB of material on a free 500MB plan. It's only because all of the media was added before it was monetized, and then I paid for a monetized plan temporarily so that my domain could be more professional. I paid so that when people hired me to come work on their freelance projects, my website name wouldn't have a wix tramp stamp on it like a poor mans face tattoo.
But why should I be ashamed of using a free tool made available to me.
Fucking capitalism.
Now, all I can add to the site are links.
Now these links can contain images, which I am grateful for.
But isn't it crazy how after years of writing and creating and developing - the internet has found another way to make me still feel broke. I'm on my professional website feeling ashamed that I can't pay for a domain that wont do anything but lie to the world about money I don't have. Should I pay for the $30 a month plan that lets me keep my domain name and 50 GB of storage but in reality - cost $360 a year. A business expense that I can write off in taxes to prove that my business is costing more than it produces. For the last few years I have spend thousands to break less than even on business expenses only to show the IRS what a loser I am so they can technically discount my tax payout.
I don't want to hold on to a failing business for a tax return write off.
I want to pay what I owe and make so much that I owe six figures!
But yet here I am. Broke, Still.
I am no domain name for me broke. Gave my last thirty dollars to get a private tour of the Obama Center broke. My card declined at a FedEx print and go for a $5 preloaded payment broke.
And yes I could’ve went to the library instead of Fed Ex to print - so technically I am still spending for convenience instead of practicality broke. And I hate that for me.
I turn 29 next month.
I still have delusional dreams about being debt free by 30, and I mean student loan debts paid off debt free, while I look at working as a substitute while still pursuing my full professional educators licensure with a student teaching schedule and income.
But hey, At least I am happy.
I can say that much. I write every day, even if its still in journals and the world will never see it.
Unless I post it, unless I market it, unless I whatever it.
I still do just write for fun, and it takes me out of the broke spiral of doom I travel down every quarter.
I attend a Wealth Summit this weekend and I am going there with intentional questions - hoping its not just a panel fest of soundbites with people that don't actually want to help and interact with the public that paid to be 'educated' by them. This summit will be the last one I attend as a young hot 28 year old emerging professional. And 28 was full of education, panels, and throwing spaghetti at the wall with social media content and non-profit volunteer toe dips to figure out what kind of storyteller I want to be since I have at least narrowed my career down to that vast field of creative junkies. I've surrounded myself with people that are always writing something no one ever wants to read.
Not because the writing isn't good- but because people genuinely don't want to read. I feel like honestly I've never met a large portion of people that genuinely love to read - just middle class aspiring elites who feel like saying they like to read is cool. And I'm in the handful of people that I know like to read, but honestly don't finish most of the books we start. Or we grow tired of the journey and ruin the adventure by reading the last chapter midway through and then go back and plug in the holes.
All this to say, I'm still broke and at this point its both income and money management.
So my next few post will be links. Links to other distribution platforms that aren't charging me for storage - yet.
Links from other websites that let me add images and then I will just write words here.
I will just write here.
I will just write.
I will write.
I will.
Lol, Hopefully this upcoming summit will give me some take aways outside of 'marketing my truth' to monetize material things the world doesn't really need.
Or I'll meet an entrepreneur that will pay an advance for my skillset(s) and potentially clear my Nelnet balance - Ill take either or.
